Carroll County player claims Money Multiplier top prize
A 47-year-old Carroll County resident who follows a Lottery scratch-off routine experienced an outcome last Friday that broke her pattern. Each week, she purchases $35 worth of scratch-offs – one $5, one $10 and one $20 ticket – and did so on Friday. Soon after she began scratching the $20 Money Multiplier ticket, she revealed the $1 million top prize.
“It was the second number I scratched on the ticket,” she said. “Right away, I yelled to my daughter to come and take a look. I didn’t believe it until today when the ticket win was confirmed at the Lottery.”
The customer service employee and her husband claimed the prize after a long weekend of keeping the ticket safe. “We hid it in a drawer in the house,” the husband said. “We kept checking to make sure it was still there!”
The parents of two have several plans for the big win, including a basement renovation, buying a new car, paying bills and saving for college tuition. They also plan to donate to a good cause.
“We are very happy to be able to donate to the victims of the tornado in Oklahoma. Before today, it would have been very difficult, but now we can afford to help,” said the wife.
The winning ticket was purchased at Main Street Liquors located at 907 South Main St. in Hampstead. The Money Multiplier scratch-off has two $1 million top-prizes remaining.
