Harford County man scratches off $10,000 prize on 50X The Cash game
An Abingdon man experienced his personal Maryland Lottery “magic moment” this week, finding a big prize on the $10 member of the Multiplier family of scratch-off games. Ronald Roman Jr. won $10,000 on the 50X The Cash game, which put plenty of pep in his step.
Comptroller for the Grand Lodge of Maryland Masons, Ronald said he has a habit of winning small prizes on scratch-offs. The $10 and $20 games offer a balance of risk and reward that seems to pay off, he said. Family members tend to be the first to know when Lottery luck strikes because he’ll make a quick call to his wife or text his father to share news of his frequent wins.
The 45-year-old had never won a large prize until Monday, when he stopped at Royal Farms in Monkton for a cool drink and 50X The Cash scratch-off during his commute. Before driving on, he scratched his ticket and his jaw hit the floor. His winning numbers began to match and the prize amounts grew. Ronald’s excitement peaked!
“After a couple of $1,000 prizes appeared, I went berserk scratching off the rest before taking the ticket to the clerk to ask if I was reading it right,” said the Harford County resident.
The winner told Lottery officials that he pulled up FaceTime on his phone so his wife could see the look on his face and then the numbers on the ticket – proving that he was a big winner this time!
The winning dad is a huge Baltimore sports fan, with a bar and recreation room decked out with memorabilia and a purple felt pool table. He said the prize money may go toward a pair of Orioles season tickets or a limited-edition jersey from the team’s online auction.
He found his lucky ticket at the Royal Farms located at 3209 Jarrettsville Pike in Monkton.
The 50x The Cash game still has plenty of big prizes remaining to provide “magic moments” for players. Look for the eight unclaimed $100,000 top prizes, 11 $50,000 prizes and 30 more $10,000 prizes. There are also thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
