Thanksgiving eve win delivers cornucopia of cash
For one Worcester County man, the day before Thanksgiving was dedicated to stuffing. Instead of stuffing an oversized bird, however, the 65-year-old Maryland Lottery scratch-off player was happily stuffing his pockets with a cornucopia of cash!
The lucky Pocomoke City player pocketed a $10,000 top prize from a Jolly Jackpot scratch-off after purchasing several of the $2 tickets that Wednesday morning.
The former manufacturing plant supervisor and his wife were preparing for holiday travel when Lottery luck arrived. While running errands, the player purchased the winning instant ticket from Discount Variety located at 142 Market Street in Pocomoke City. He scratched it off in his car while waiting for his wife to finish her appointment at a nail salon.
“I scratched the ticket and three Santa’s appeared. That’s when I knew I won,” he said. The happy husband dashed into the salon to share his jolly news with his wife. Shortly afterward, the pair detoured to Baltimore to claim the game’s top prize before heading to their holiday destination.
The lucky winner says he has no immediate plans for his prize and plans to add the funds to the couple’s savings account.
“We are thankful for this day,” added the lucky man’s wife.
This is the second $10,000 top-prize win in the Jolly Jackpot game, which still has two more top prizes remaining. Players can try to win thousands of other prizes in this game, too. Be sure to enter non-winning Jolly Jackpot scratch-offs and other instant tickets in the Lottery’s holiday lineup into the Holiday Cash & Dash second-chance promotion.
