$10,000 Scratch-off Win Helps Fund Back-to-School Shopping for Four

Player claims 3rd of 188 top prizes in 10x Cash game

266-10X-Cash-ITVM_P1-greenA lucky Mt. Airy woman has back-to-school shopping for her four grandkids in mind after capturing the third $10,000 top-prize winning ticket in the 10x Cash scratch-off game.

The popular $10 game, which went on sale again on July 25, still has 115 top prizes remaining along with more than 500,000 prizes of $10 to $1,000.

Happy Howard County residents Edward, Jessie and Tylen Watson arrived at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Monday, Aug. 1, to claim the prize. Jessie, who is the scratch-off player in the family, really loves the 10x Cash game and was happy to see it return to the Lottery’s $10 instant ticket lineup. “We hit $500 on it a couple of times in the past,” she said.

The loyal player had stopped at Four Corners Exxon located at 4000 Mill Bottom Road in Mt. Airy to pick up three instant tickets when Lottery luck paid her a visit. She was on the phone with Edward when she discovered her $10,000 win.

“I about had a heart attack,” she said. “I was shaking all over. I called a friend to come up to be with me.”

Married 31 years, Edward and Jessie are raising their four grandchildren as their own on a farm. She is disabled and he is retiring, so the prize “is a blessing,” she said. In addition to buying school clothes and school supplies for the children, who are in first through eighth grade, the couple will put the prize into savings to help with future family expenses.
