Scratch-off fan takes home $10,000 prize
A 63-year-old contractor was thrilled after a day of running errands led him to a $10,000 win on the $250,000 High Rollers Club scratch-off game.
The avid scratch-off player stopped at the Maple Supermart, located at 7605 Maple Avenue in Takoma Park, to pick up a few items when he decided to purchase a scratch-off game. He won $10 on the first ticket and used the winnings to play the $250,000 High Rollers Club game. He scratched the ticket while he was still in the store and revealed the $10,000 win.
“This is the first time I’ve ever won anything,” said the big winner. “And, it could not have happened at a better time.”
The Takoma Park resident showed the ticket to the cashier who informed him that the amount was too much to cash at the store. A few days later, after the initial shock had won off, the Takoma Park resident cashed his ticket at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The father of two adult sons and one grandchild was enthusiastic as he shared his story. He was accompanied by one of his sons who shared in this father’s joy. The winner plans to pay bills with his prize money and will take his son to lunch.
The $250,000 High Rollers Club launched in February, and one of its $250,000 top prizes is still waiting to be found at Lottery retailers across the state, along with two more $10,000 prizes and thousands of additional cash prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
