Player claims top prize on Quarter Million Large game
What would define a “great” start to a three-day holiday weekend? Having a half day off work? Getting a free lunch? How about winning $250,000! A Prince George’s County man kicked off his Memorial Day weekend fun by finding a $250,000 top prize on the Maryland Lottery’s Quarter Million Large scratch-off.
“This is still unreal for me I could not believe it!” he said. “This is the first time, but will not be the last time!”
Nicknamed “Mr. Quarter Million,” the 57-year-old decided to start his weekend early. He took a “much needed” half day off from work and stopped at one of his favorite Lottery retailers to purchase Mega Millions and Powerball tickets. While at Marlow Wings in Marlow Heights, “Mr. Quarter Million” noticed the Quarter Million Large scratch-off. He said to himself, “Why not!”
The loyal Lottery player scratched off the $10 game. He saw that he had a match with a winning number and then revealed a $250,000 prize.
“I had to check it again,” said the dubious winner. “I scanned it the first time, paused, and then did it again and the cashier even scanned it because they (store employees) couldn’t believe it.”
Winning $250,000 is a big jump from his second biggest win of $100. When asked what he was going to do with the prize, the happy player said he plans to save it for future endeavors.
Joining him as a winner is Marlow Wings, his favorite Lottery retailer. Located at 4147 Branch Avenue, the Prince George’s County retailer earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling this top-prize winning scratch-off.
