$30,000 Money Magnet Win is a Family Affair

Woman claims top prize on scratch-off

The 53-year-old winner arrived at Lottery Headquarters with her husband of 30 years and her daughter by her side. The happy trio had braved the rainy weather, driving from their home in Washington, D.C., to come claim the top prize on the Money Magnet scratch-off.

The winning ticket was purchased last Saturday during a routine trip to the store, close to their home. “I got up to do some errands like I always do on Saturdays. Then, I went to the store and bought a few scratch-offs, including two Money Magnet tickets,” said the winner. Continuing her errands, she bought several more tickets throughout the day. But, it wasn’t until after midnight that she and her husband and daughter began scratching them. “We gather together to play,” said the mother-of-one. “We do it as a family. It’s fun.” Her 28-year-old daughter added, “We take turns scratching the tickets.”

The family enjoyed their Lottery play until finally reaching their last scratch-off. “We saved the best for last,” the winner said with a smile. “I was getting kind of frustrated,” interjected the winner’s husband. “I said, ‘hurry up so I can go to bed.’” Thoughts of sleep quickly fled upon revealing their $30,000 prize. “I wasn’t tired anymore,” said the daughter. “There was a lot of hollering and screaming going on.”

The appreciative family plans to use the winnings to do a few things around the house, and they will also put some into savings. The winning ticket was purchased at Pincus Liquors, located at 3801 Bladensburg Rd. in Brentwood.
