Claim last $25,000 top prize on $2 ticket
A lucky Baltimore couple who claimed the last $25,000 top prize on the popular Maryland Lottery Champions scratch-off bought the instant ticket simply because of its price point.
“I had bought the ticket for my wife and daughter,” said the husband. “I’m not really a Ravens fan, but I wanted to get a $2 ticket.”
When he got home, he gave the ticket to his wife and watched her scratch it off. The first number revealed a $5,000 win. The next number revealed a $1,000 win. Every single number on the ticket was a winner!
“We had to sit down and add everything up!” the lucky lady said. “It’s a blessing.”
The retirees plan to use the money to buy a new car. “Now I just have to find a winner for my daughter,” the man said, laughing.
He bought the Champions ticket at the Harford Convenience Store located at 3514 Harford Road in Baltimore City. The scratch-off still has more than 100,000 winning tickets in Maryland stores with prizes ranging from $2 to $5,000.
