$50,000 Powerball Prize Puts House Painting on Winner’s Agenda

Rockville dad finds luck in April 26 drawing

A Rockville retiree’s practice of tucking Powerball tickets into his wallet to check later gave him a wonderful $50,000 surprise. The 66-year-old recently checked a batch of four tickets and discovered his lucky day was April 26!

The loyal player frequents several Maryland Lottery retailers to buy Powerball and Mega Millions tickets. Late last month, the father of three stopped at Old World Favorites in Silver Spring to buy tickets for the April 26 drawing. That lucky Lottery retailer, located at 3854 International Drive, also sold a $50,000 winning scratch-off in 2014, and is a regular stop for our winner.

The happy husband plans to spend some of his prize having the house repainted and will deposit the rest into savings.

He was one of two Marylanders and one of 25 players nationwide to win $50,000 in the April 26 drawing by matching four numbers and the Power Ball. No one hit the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday, so it rolled to $184 million for the Saturday, May 13 drawing. The cash option is $112.7 million.
