Postal worker claims prize on $2,000,000 Fortune game
Dreams of going home are often just dreams, but dreams backed by a $50,000 Maryland Lottery win can come true! A bit of Lottery luck is making a visit to Thailand possible for a postal worker from Beltsville. The Prince George’s County man was positively pumped when his purchase of the popular $2,000,000 Fortune scratch-off prompted a princely prize of $50,000!
The lucky 60-year-old chose the $30 scratch-off, along with a few other games, on his way home from work last week. He stopped at 7-Eleven #11568 at 4410 Powder Mill Road in Beltsville to make his winning selection. The loyal scratch-off fan often picks up a few games to play at night as a way of unwinding.
Shortly after buying the games, the lucky player began scratching off the fateful $2,000,000 Fortune instant ticket. He paused only when a gold bar emblem appeared above a $50,000 prize!
The winner plans to use his prize to pay down bills and visit family members in Thailand. Although he visits his homeland every few years, the happy man said he always looks forward to his next trip. He finds the tug and pull of homesickness, especially separated by so many miles, unrelenting.
“Wherever you go, wherever your current home is, you’ll always miss your other home,” he explained.
The $2,000,000 Fortune game debuted in February 2017 as the Maryland Lottery’s first $30 scratch-off. Players can find plenty of prizes remaining, including two $2 million prizes, four $50,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $30 to $5,000.
