$50,000 Winning Powerball Double Play Ticket Sold in Salisbury

Lucky Wicomico County ticket bought in Dec. 6 drawing

Although no one won the $280 million Powerball jackpot Monday night, a lucky player did find $50,000 worth of winnings on a ticket with the Double Play feature.

The player bought the lucky ticket at Naylor Food Mart, located at 1101 North Salisbury Boulevard in Salisbury. The winning Double Play numbers in the Dec. 6 drawing were 8, 15, 27, 55 and 66; the Powerball was 17.

This is the third third-tier winning Double Play ticket sold in Maryland since the new Powerball game feature launched in August. Maryland also had the nation’s first $10 million top-prize winning Double Play ticket, which was sold in the Sept. 27 drawing. That prize is still unclaimed.

Players can add Double Play for $1 to their tickets and have their numbers entered in a second drawing that follows the regular drawing. The prize structure for Double Play ranges from a fixed $10 million top prize down to $7.

Lottery officials encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket immediately and put it in a safe location. Winners get 182 days from the date of a drawing to claim prizes.

Instructions on claiming prizes in person or by mail are available HERE. Players must redeem prizes larger than $25,000 by mail or at Lottery headquarters in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330 in Baltimore. The Lottery’s Claims Center in Baltimore is open by appointment only (no walk-ins). Click here to schedule an appointment.

The Powerball jackpot continues on its roll and is set for $291 million for the Wednesday, Dec. 8 drawing. The cash option is $213 million.
