Winning Ticket Purchased at Bunny’s Liquors in Baltimore
Last night, when a 60-year-old Baltimore woman decided to watch the Multi-Match drawing on her DVR, she had no idea that she would still be awake many hours later. Once the grandmother of eight saw that the third row on her Maryland Lottery ticket matched the winning numbers, sleep became impossible.
“I had to keep looking at those numbers,” the retiree said. “After 20 minutes, I finally woke my husband and asked him to watch the drawing to make sure I really won.”
The excitement didn’t end there. Next, she called her daughter and her son.
“At that point, my mom didn’t even know the jackpot amount,” her daughter told Lottery officials. “I looked it up on my iPad and told her it was $600,000. She was shocked.”
Given the choice between the annuity and the $350,000 cash option for her win in the May 1 drawing, the happy winner chose the cash. She plans to spend her prize to buy the house she is currently renting and to travel. Although this is the largest prize she’s won to date, it wasn’t her first trip to Lottery headquarters. Just last year, she won $10,000 on a scratch-off.
“She really is the luckiest person I know,” the winner’s daughter said.
Bunny’s Liquors, located at 2217 North Fulton Ave. in Baltimore City, will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. This is the fourth Multi-Match jackpot win this year.
