A Birthday to Remember For Delaware Man

Scratch-off Gift Delivers $50,000 Win

Triple Green CrosswordThe Maryland Lottery helped to celebrate a Delaware man’s birthday yesterday when he visited the Baltimore headquarters to claim a scratch-off prize. The Triple Green Crossword ticket he presented to officials that was given to him as a birthday gift from his father and proved to be worth $50,000.

“I was shocked when I saw the prize on the ticket, I thought that it had to be a fake,” said the computer consultant for a Newark bank. Convinced of his good fortune by a verification call to Lottery earlier in the week, he shared the news with his dad. “He was excited, but he joked that he’d given me the wrong ticket. He bought two that day and kept one for himself – the wrong one,” he laughed.

The 33-year-old husband and father of a four year old daughter plans to dedicate most of his winnings to the family’s rainy day fund. Some, however, will go toward making an already-planned trip to Disney World a little nicer. The Delaware man’s lottery luck found him, via his father, at the Navy Gas Station at 211 West Pulaski Highway in Elkton.
