Wins $100,000 top prize playing Crown Jewel 7’s scratch-off
The Maryland Lottery’s latest $100,000 winner arrived at Lottery Headquarters uncertain about the size of his prize. “I didn’t know what to expect,” said the 28-year-old, who asked to be called simply “Dan.” “But, I was hoping that it was $100,000.”
Dan, who resides in Montgomery County and is an online college student, decided to buy the Crown Jewel 7’s ticket just because he liked the way it looked. Since it was a nice day, he then sat outside in his car to scratch his ticket. One line at a time he revealed the numbers. And finally, there it was; that lucky number 7. “I thought to myself, it’s probably a $10 winner,” said Dan. He was shocked when he revealed the $100,000 top prize.
Dan phoned his parents and a couple of good friends to share his good fortune. “This win came at the perfect time,” he said. “I’m not working right now. I’m paying for school and rent, so I can really use the money.” Dan said he will use his prize to pay student loans and invest for the future. He also intends to donate to charity. The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven located at 820 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda.
