Aberdeen Correctional Officer Locks Up Lottery Prize

Wins $50,000 Playing Bonus Match 5

An Aberdeen man has his wife to thank for the couple’s latest good fortune. The lucky man, who describes himself as a once-in-a-while player, was elated to discover that the numbers his wife selected lead them to a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize.

The man learned of his Friday night win via a phone call from home. “My wife called when I was on the way to work sounding frantic,” the 57-year-old correctional officer told officials. “I first made sure that nothing was wrong, and then she told me about the win. It was great to hear, but I didn’t really believe it.”

Returning home on Saturday, the man finally had the chance to compare his tickets to the winning numbers. It still took a trip to a Lottery retailer to scan the ticket to truly convince the man that he had won such a large sum.

The Harford County couple will take care of some bills with their winnings and save the rest for something fun for the family. “Since my wife picked the numbers that won for us, so I’ll let her decide the fun part,” he said. Bonus Match 5 luck found today’s winner at the 7-11 convenience store at 1345 James Way Road in Aberdeen.
