Aberdeen Homemaker Enjoys Beginner’s Luck Playing Racetrax

Wins over $45,000 in days

A stay-at-home mom who loves playing Keno enjoyed a five-figure run of beginner’s luck when she switched gears and tried Racetrax, another Maryland Lottery game.

The Aberdeen resident placed a quick-pick, 20-draw Superfecta bet at the Royal Farms in Aberdeen and hoped her horses – 4, 6, 11 and 8 – would gallop across the finish line in that exact order. They did and she raced to Lottery headquarters to claim her $43,767 prize.

“I was in such shock because I hardly knew how to play the game,” she said. “I went home and showed my husband but he didn’t believe me at first. Then, we went and scanned the ticket and it told us to come here.”

The excited winner told Lottery officials that a few days prior to her big win, she found $1,200 and $689 worth of Lottery luck with two other bets.

“Now we can pay off some of those bills we have,” she said, gleefully. In addition, the 37-year-old plans to spend a portion of her prize on a big Father’s Day party for her husband. “We are truly blessed,” said the lucky player. “I can’t wait to celebrate with my family.”

Also celebrating her win is Royal Farms #188 located at 742 South Philadelphia Road in Aberdeen. The Harford County retailer will receive a $437.67 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 and up.
