Let it Snow Tripler scratch-off is her ticket for interstate move
Every day, Virginia resident Jennifer Alderton crosses into Maryland for work and, almost every day, stops at Elbe’s Beer & Wine in Wheaton to buy a Maryland Lottery scratch-off. The Maryland-born accountant, who wants to move back to her native state, found her ticket to the interstate move with her lucky purchase of a $100,000 top-prize winning Let it Snow Tripler scratch-off.
The long-time instant ticket fan became enamored of the $10 game after enjoying multiple wins in the last six months. That fondness escalated into true love when the game’s final top prize found its way into her hands.
“I was sitting there in my office scratching away when I saw the match and then the dollar amount,” Jennifer said. In disbelief, the Sterling resident sought a second set of eyes to confirm the win. Her accounting firm is a family affair, so she asked her brother for help.
“I handed him the ticket and said, ‘Please tell me that this is a $100,000 winner.’ ” The remainder of the work day was spent in utter amazement over the big win. “It’s a good thing tax season is over! We had plenty of time to celebrate and share the news with friends and family.”
The 45-year-old winner plans to spend her prize on a move back to Maryland. “We’ve been planning the move for a while. This win will put our timetable in fast-forward (mode).”
Jennifer plans to stick to her Lottery routine and stay loyal to Elbe’s Beer & Wine at 2522 University Boulevard in Wheaton. “They’ve treated me well there over the years and I try to return the favor.”
For selling the top-prize ticket in the game, the lucky retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
