Will Set Aside $24,000 Lottery Win to Benefit Daughter
An Adelphi dad is $24,000 richer today after playing the Maryland Lottery’s 24 Karat Cash scratch-off and, in true family-man style, is setting aside his winnings for his young daughter.
The avid scratch-off player dined at a local restaurant before good fortune came his way. After his dinner, he decided to pick up four 24 Karat Cash scratch-offs to take home to his family. The Prince George’s County resident headed to Bristol Liquors in Baltimore, bought the tickets and headed home to scratch the $3 tickets with his wife.
The 37-year-old and his spouse sat down to play the scratch-offs and were pleased when one of her tickets revealed a $10 win. Not bad, they thought. Then, he scratched off the ticket with the $24,000 prize.
“I could not believe what I saw, I thought it was a joke,” he said. “I could not stop trembling.”
Before trusting his eyes, the lucky player took his winning ticket to a Lottery retailer and asked the clerk to scan it. The ticket was, indeed, a $24,000 winner!
The food truck owner thought of his daughter’s higher education needs after realizing his good fortune was true. “I will save this money for her,” he said, smiling with pride. “She’s a good girl and a good student. Maybe she can use it for college.”
The game has four top prize winning tickets still available for purchase in Maryland stores. Want to try your luck at our player’s lucky store? Visit Bristol Liquors at 507 South Broadway.
