They claim first $50,000 top prize on Amazing 8s scratch-off
Amazing? You bet! A Frederick couple was elated to discover they are the first Maryland Lottery players to claim a $50,000 top prize on the new Amazing 8s scratch-off since it debuted on June 22.
The pair found their good fortune at Stup’s Market in Adamstown, where they stopped to pick up a few items including scratch-offs. The 54-year-old Frederick County man claimed the prize.
“We are thrilled that we sold a top-prize winning ticket,” said Sandy Holt, who has managed Stup’s Market for 13 years. “It’s awesome when our players win like that.”
Sandy told Lottery officials that this makes the second time in two months the store sold a top-prize winning $50,000 scratch-off. For selling the lucky ticket, the store located at 5550 Mountville Road in Frederick County will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. There are six more $50,000 top prizes and 18 prizes of $8,888 remaining on the $5 game.
