$575,000 Multi-Match prize is second big win in just five months
The Maryland Lottery’s latest Multi-Match winner is no stranger to Lottery Headquarters. In fact, just this past July, the 60-year-old won $25,000 playing Pick 4. “I always played Pick 4 and Mega Millions and only began playing Multi-Match this past month,” said the lucky man. His new playing routine paid off quickly to the sum of $575,000 as a result of matching all six numbers on one line in the December 1 drawing.
The happy player discovered his good fortune when he checked his numbers on mdlottery.com and in the newspaper. “I checked my ticket six times,” he told Lottery officials. “My wife was asleep at the time, so I didn’t have anyone to tell.”
Still a bit skeptical, he returned the next morning to the liquor store where he had purchased the ticket and was told to take it to the Lottery. “This must be it,” he thought to himself. He called his wife to share the great news. Unable to contact her, he then called his daughter. “I was more excited than he was,” said his daughter, who had accompanied him to Lottery Headquarter. Since the news of his win almost a week ago, he has kept the $575,000 winning Multi-Match ticket in a secure box with his important papers.
The winner plans to pay bills and retire with his prize money. The winning ticket was purchased at the Odenton Liquors, located at 1115 Annapolis Rd. in Odenton.
