Claims top prize on 10x Cash scratch-off
Lady Luck gave U.S. Army enlistee Ronald Stewart of Baltimore a wonderful going-away gift – a $10,000 top prize on the Maryland Lottery’s 10x Cash scratch-off.
The 19-year-old found his good fortune while on an errand to buy milk. The loyal Lottery player made another stop at Cherry Hill Liquors in Baltimore, where he purchased a few instant tickets.
“I usually get the $5 bingo scratch-offs but, for some reason, I decided to buy the $10 10x Cash one instead,” Ronald said. “After I got home and put all the groceries away, I decided to scratch the ticket. At first, I thought it was a fake ticket when I finished scratching it so that’s when I asked my cousin to make sure I was reading it right.”
After showing the scratch-off to several family members, Ronald returned to Cherry Hill Liquors to scan the instant ticket. He quickly confirmed his win and came straight to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim his prize.
Since his birthday is coming up in early May, Ronald plans to use some of his winnings to buy new clothes and will then go out to celebrate in his new threads. He will depart for basic training in a few months.
“This is so awesome,” said Amy Lee, manager of Cherry Hill Liquors at 632 Cherry Hill Road. “I’m so happy for my customer who won. We love it when this sort of thing happens. It tends to happen a lot here.”
10x Cash is one of the Maryland Lottery’s new tickets that made its debut in March. There are still 78 of the $10,000 top prizes and 44 of the $1,000 prizes awaiting discovery at Maryland retailers.
