Silver Spring resident claims top prize on Big Money Bingo game
A Maryland Lottery scratch-off fan happily discovered that her Big Money Bingo scratch-off was true to its name. She won a big $100,000 top prize!
Her big win turned her long gloomy Monday into an exciting evening. The Silver Spring resident was traveling home from work when she decided to brighten her day with a stop at Georgia Market in Montgomery County. The Lottery retailer is one of her favorite spots to buy scratch-offs.
The 42-year-old usually buys a few different games and did just that this time, too. She chose the $10 Big Money Bingo instant ticket and a $2 game called $100 Frenzy.
“Normally, I’ll scratch the tickets at home,” she said. “That day, I decided to scratch the ticket in the store. A lucky feeling drove that decision! After revealing only part of the instant ticket, she asked the cashier to scan the scratch-off and check its prize amount.
“The guy looked at me and said, ‘Looks like a big prize, you’ll have to go to the Lottery building to claim your prize!’ When he said that, I went home and scratched the rest of the ticket,” the lucky player said. “When I saw how much I won, I said to myself, ‘Whoa, is this for real?’ ”
The happy woman kept looking at the scratch-off to make sure her big win wasn’t a dream. She plans to use the prize to pay off her student loans, pay off her children’s student loans and possibly buy a new car.
Also celebrating is Georgia Market. The Silver Spring retailer located at 13623 Georgia Avenue earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game. The Big Money Bingo game still have four unclaimed $100,000 top prizes along with 10 $10,000 prizes. Players can also win thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000.
