Bag of Chips Leads Pair to $10,000 Lottery Prize

Couple wins with Million Dollar Spectacular scratch-off

222-Million-Dollar-Spectacular-ITVMA Howard County couple’s decision to stop at Normandy Crown Gas in Ellicott City to buy a bag of chips wound up putting $10,000 into their pockets. While checking out, on a whim, the husband added a $20 Million Dollar Spectacular scratch-off to his purchase because it looked enticing. That impulse buy led to a $10,000 Maryland Lottery win!

“I was putting away groceries and making dinner when he called for me to come in the other room,” said his 24-year-old wife. “I thought something was wrong so I ran right in.”

That’s when her husband showed her the instant ticket. All 30 numbers in the play area matched the winning numbers. Each prize ranged between $100 and $500, so it was time to put their math skills to the test.

“At first glance, I thought maybe we won a couple thousand dollars,” said the husband. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw it was $10,000!”

The happy wife immediately called her parents to share the good news. The lucky Ellicott City residents put the scratch-off in a special spot for safekeeping over the weekend until they could claim their prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. They plan to save their windfall and may take a vacation.

The lucky store, Normandy Crown Gas, is located at 8505 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City. Their $20 game still has plenty of prizes remaining include two $1 million top prizes, four $50,000 prizes and 18 $10,000 prizes.
