Baltimore Carpenter Claims $50,000 The Price is Right® Scratch-off Prize

A $50,000 win on The Price is Right® game will keep “Bob & Edie” of Baltimore warm this winter.

Long-time scratch-off fan lands biggest prize ever

“Bob,” the owner of a carpentry business and a fan of Maryland Lottery scratch-offs, visited Lottery headquarters on Friday, one week after stopping a Dundalk liquor store and picking out a $10 The Price is Right® instant ticket. While last week was the beginning of a $50,000 adventure, this was the payoff.

“I stopped in to get a couple of tickets on the way home from work, something I do several times a week,” said Bob, 57. “I don’t know what made me pick The Price is Right®, it just caught my eye.”

After scratching his ticket there in the store, he had to look a few times and even had to dig out his glasses to make sure his eyes were not deceiving him.

“Even then I didn’t trust myself,” he said. “I asked the clerk to confirm.”

It was no mistake, and when Bob called his wife Edie with the news that he had won $50,000, she could tell right away that it was real.

“He said, ‘Guess what I just did at the liquor store?’” Edie recalled. “He sounded excited.”

The Baltimore couple will use their prize to tackle a few bills and to plan a warm-weather vacation for this coming winter. Bob found Lottery luck at George’s Liquors, 2101 Merritt Avenue in Dundalk. The Price is Right® scratch-off game launched on April 22, 2019. There are still eight unclaimed $100,000 top prizes, 11 more unclaimed $50,000 prizes and 28 $10,000 prizes awaiting discovery at Lottery retailers across the state.
