Baltimore Construction Inspector Hoists $50,000 in Lottery Winnings

Rey Magsino - Sweet Riches

Rey Magsino started the holiday season off with a bang
by winning a $50,000 Sweet Riches top prize.

Wins top prize on Sweet Riches scratch-off, two top-prizes remain

Baltimore City resident Rey Magsino can scratch ‘Win the Lottery’ off of his holiday wish list. That’s because the 50-year-old construction inspector accomplished the task last week, scratching off a Maryland Lottery Sweet Riches holiday scratch-off to reveal a $50,000 top prize.

Magsino initially purchased the ticket when he had stopped to get gas, choosing the ticket because of the holiday theme and color. “It’s green, just like money,” he explained. He scratched the ticket in the store shortly after the purchase, but played it cool when he saw the prize. “I was happy, but tried to keep it to myself,” said Magsino.

He plans to use the winnings for some much-needed home improvements and to treat his family. The winning ticket was purchased at J & J Grocery on Leeds Avenue in Baltimore. Magsino advised other players to keep playing. “You could be the lucky one,” he said.
