Claims $50,000 top prize on Maryland Lottery scratch-off
A 79-year-old Catonsville beautician wasted no time claiming her $50,000 prize on the Maryland Lottery’s Monopoly scratch-off, arriving at Lottery headquarters the Monday after her Friday win.
“I’ve not been sleeping too well since Friday,” said the mother and grandmother. “It’s either nerves or excitement – or both.”
The Baltimore County resident has won plenty of times in the past but none of those experiences with Lottery luck prepared her for a top-prize win. The scratch game fan is still floored with her big-winner status.
“As big a surprise as I’ve ever had,” she said.
In Randallstown to visit family, the loyal player saw a store that sold Lottery products and stopped in. “I play scratch tickets every week, they are my favorite,” she said. The $5 Monopoly scratch-off she purchased from Cigalotto at 9912 Liberty Road delivered the win that shocked her and sent a wave of gleeful surprise through her family. “As happy as I am about this, they’re even happier for me,” she said.
While she wanted to get her winnings safely in the bank before deciding what to do with her Lottery prize, the happy winner hinted that international travel might be on her agenda. The $5 Monopoly ticket that proved so lucky for her has two more $50,000 winning tickets looking for a new home as well as six $5,000 winners.
For selling the top-prize ticket, Cigalotto in Randallstown will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
