Baltimore Family Man Gives…and Gets

Wins $30,000 Top Prize Playing Tripling Star Crossword

Ricardo Diggs - Tripling Star CrosswordRicardo Diggs, Jr., a forklift operator from Baltimore City, is a busy man, but there are two things that he nearly always finds the time to do. First, he talks to his mother each day and secondly, he rarely misses a day of $1 Maryland Lottery scratch-off play. He wanted to do something a little different this past Sunday, though, and splurged by buying $3 tickets. After his purchase, Diggs sat down, scratched his ticket and blinked several times before realizing that he had won the $30,000 top prize on the Tripling Star Crossword scratch-off.  He then immediately called his mother.

The father-of-one is a self-described family man.  When he came to Lottery Headquarters, he was accompanied by his adoring mother who sang his praises.  “My son is always giving to other people,” she said. “It’s time that he is rewarded for his kindness.  I’m so proud of him.”

Diggs is looking forward to using some of his prize money to buy an affordable car.  He also plans to take his family out for a steak dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and will put the rest of the money in the bank.  “Saving money is extremely important to me and this isn’t going to change my view on that,” he said.  The winning ticket was purchased at Woodlawn Mart at 1818 Woodlawn Dr. in Baltimore City.
