Baltimore Housekeeper Cleans Up with $50,000 Scratch-off Win

Claims top prize on Gold Bar Bingo game

A Baltimore bingo scratch-off fan told Lottery officials that she always picks out an assortment of instant tickets that includes a bingo-themed game. Her affinity for bingo-style instant tickets just gave the retired housekeeper a $50,000 prize, which is the biggest Lottery win of her life.

“I really didn’t know what to feel,” said the 72 year-old. “It was unbelievable. My heart was beating a hundred miles an hour.”

Having played the $5 Gold Bar Bingo game several times, she knew immediately that her instant ticket was special. Doubting what she was seeing, however, the winner called her daughter for help. The daughter hurried over and brought her phone equipped with the Lottery app. “Even after my daughter checked my ticket and told me it was real, I still doubted it. I celebrated with her, but those doubts were still there.”

The loyal player said the Gold Bar Bingo winnings would help her pay bills and buy a few things that she has wanted. “My daughter insists that I treat myself.”

The popular game debuted in July with eight $50,000 top prizes. There are five more $50,000 top-prize winners still in circulation along with eight $10,000 prizes and five $5,000 prizes.

Her lucky Lottery retailer was A & B Liquors at 523 West Lexington Street in Baltimore City. For selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off, the retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
