Wins $50,000 on Extreme Green taxes-paid scratch-off
A Baltimore man actually threw away – and then, to his relief, retrieved – a Maryland Lottery scratch-off that wound up packing his pockets with a $50,000 taxes-paid prize.
The 24-year-old said he saw the Extreme Green taxes-paid instant ticket read $50,000 after he scratched it but refused to believe his eyes. The lucky winner then threw it in the trash bin inside Milford Liquors in Baltimore. Seconds later, he came to his senses, retrieved the $5 instant ticket and asked the retailer to scan it. He was a big winner!
The loyal player works right across the street from his lucky retailer and routinely plays scratch-offs each week. On the day he found his Lottery luck, the winner walked into the store and bought about $50 worth of games. He immediately called his mother to share the news of his good fortune and, knowing that her son is a practical joker, she did not believe him.
“Stop playing,” his mother said, and hung up on him. The winner promptly called back with a bit more emotion and his mother knew that his win was for real. She stashed his winning ticket at the very bottom of her purse until they could come together to Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
A barber’s apprentice for the past year, the winner plans to use his prize to invest in his barber career and to buy a new car. Also happy with his win is the Baltimore County retailer located at 8100 Liberty Road. The retailer receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket in the game. There are still two top prizes remaining for the Extreme Green scratch ticket.
