Baltimore Man Beats the Dealer Playing Poker Showdown Scratch-off

Claims $100,000 top prize on $10 game

220-Poker-Showdown-ITVMWhile on his break and eating leftovers from the previous night, a 39-year-old Baltimore man decided to buy a few Maryland Lottery scratch-offs tickets from The News Stand in Security Square Mall in Windsor Mills to pass the time.

He likes to play poker so he bought a $10 Poker Showdown scratch-off. The lucky player ended up beating the dealer by getting a royal straight flush on the instant ticket.

“The first time I bought the ticket, which was yesterday, I didn’t win,” he said. “But today, I felt lucky. I didn’t know it was going to be that easy to beat the dealer. I am so excited!”

The happy man told Lottery officials that he’s not sure what he will do with his prize but he plans to have fun finding out.

“We’re so happy that our customer won,” said Shanta, whose family has owned The News Stand for over two years. “We feel good that one of our customers won big!”

For selling the top-prize ticket in the game, The News Stand located at 6901 Security Boulevard in Windsor Mills will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. The Poker Showdown game still has one $100,000 top prize and seven $10,000 second-level prizes remaining along with more than 100,000 prizes of $10 to $1,000.
