Baltimore Mother-Daughter Scratch-off Team Celebrates $50,000 Win

Played $5 Winning Streak scratch-off for top-prize score

May 22 is the day a Baltimore mother and daughter will not soon forget. The two Maryland Lottery players cashed in a lucky Winning Streak scratch-off to claim its $50,000 top prize.

Strictly speaking, the daughter won the windfall. She was playing on the advice of her mom, who is a scratch-off enthusiast.

“I’m a scratch-off fanatic. I just love to play scratch-offs,” the mom said. Her biggest prize to date was $1,500. Seeing her daughter’s instant ticket win $50,000 was amazing. “I really could not believe it.”

The two plan to pay some bills and get a car with the proceeds of their big win. They are also planning a party to celebrate in style.

They pair bought the winning instant ticket at Jerry’s Bar, which is located at 604 Poplar Grove Street in Baltimore. For selling a top-prize winning scratch-off, the city retailer will receive a bonus of $500 from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.

The Winning Streak scratch-off is in the number 15 spot on the Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-Offs chart. Five of the original nine top prizes remain unclaimed along with more than 600 prizes of $500 or more.
