Baltimore Resident Wins Big on 10X The Cash Scratch-off

Baltimore resident Bedesh Latchman (right) was joined by his fiancee Candice Butrim as he claimed a $10,000 top prize on the 10X The Cash scratch-off.

Lucky winner plans to help fiancee celebrate birthday in style

Bedesh Latchman is a big fan of Maryland Lottery scratch-offs but until two weeks ago, he hadn’t held a big winning ticket in his hands.

That all changed after the plumber/general maintenance worker visited the 7-Eleven #29731 at 3003 North Point Road in Baltimore. Bedesh bought a few instant tickets, including a 10X The Cash scratch-off that turned out to be a $10,000 winner. He was at home with his fiancee, Candice Butrim, when he scratched the ticket and discovered his Lottery luck.

“I scratched a couple of tickets and didn’t win anything, and then I scratched this one and saw it was a $10,000 winner,” Bedesh said. “And then the party started – we said, ‘Let’s go buy some beer.”

This was by far Bedesh’s biggest win on a scratch-off. The Baltimore resident’s largest instant ticket prize previously was $100. He stashed the lucky 10X The Cash ticket behind a picture frame for safekeeping until he and Candice could come to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize.

Bedesh said he wanted to use the prize money to celebrate Candice’s upcoming birthday in style. The couple planned to visit Horseshoe Casino and do some shopping.

The 10X The Cash ticket was part of a family of multiplier tickets that launched in January. The $2 ticket has three more unclaimed $10,000 top prizes, seven unclaimed $5,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $2 to $1,000. The multiplier family also includes $1, $5, $10 and $20 tickets.
