Finds luck on the Get Rich scratch-off
As a treat to her ill nephew, a Baltimore woman offered to drive him to the out-of-the-way Royal Farms that stocked his favorite bread. While waiting for him to check out, the woman bought a $20 Get Rich scratch-off since she knew several of the large prizes were still available. She immediately stopped scratching the ticket in the store when she uncovered the first number, which showed a $5,000 prize.
“As soon as I saw the first prize, I put the ticket in my pocketbook and left with my nephew,” she recalled. “I had won $250,000 on a scratch-off years ago and I didn’t want anyone to know.”
Rushing home, the mother of three adult children finished checking her ticket and decided to call her daughter. “My mom calls me up and just says, ‘I did it again,’ and all I could think was that she was in a car accident!” her daughter shared with Lottery officials.
The woman quickly reassured her daughter that she had won a $50,000 prize on the Get Rich scratch-off and was perfectly safe at home. “I have someone looking out for me,” the woman shared thoughtfully. “My husband passed a few years ago. I know he’s looking out for me.”
For now, the lucky lady plans to take care of her family as well as go on a trip to Dollywood in Tennessee. “My daughter takes me every year and we always have a ball. We’ll start planning our next trip soon.”
The happy woman “got rich” at the Royal Farm #078 at 6435 Pulaski Highway in Baltimore last week.
