Takes home top prize on Payday Doubler game
A Baltimore City elementary school teacher got a lesson in winning after she stopped at Sheldon Lounge in the city to purchase one Payday Doubler scratch-off. The $5 Maryland Lottery game offers a $50,000 taxes-paid top prize, which means winners get to keep the entire amount.
The city resident took the instant ticket home and scratched it off there, revealing a top-prize win! The 25-year-old immediately showed the ticket to her grandmother, who accompanied her to Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the prize.
“My grandmother looked at it at least three times to confirm it was really a winner,” the winner told Lottery officials. “We were really excited.”
The lucky educator, who used the nickname “Teacher Swag” when claiming the prize, hasn’t decided exactly what she’d like to do with her winnings. Sharing with family and fixing up the house are both on the list.
“Dreams really do come true,” the winner’s grandmother said with a huge smile on her face.
“Teacher Swag” bought her winning Payday Doubler instant ticket at Sheldon Lounge located at 4325 Belair Road in Baltimore. For selling the winning top-prize scratch-off, the lucky retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
The Payday Doubler game has four more $50,000 top prizes and nine $5,000 prizes. Players can also search for thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
