Baltimore Woman Quenches Her Thirst and Wins $30,000

UNO scratch-off game yields top prize

After a long day of work at a local restaurant, a Baltimore woman came home and took a much-needed nap. She was awakened, however, by her thirst, so the 20-year-old took a short walk to the store to buy something to drink. Little did she know, Lady Luck entered that store with her!

The scratch-off player purchased her drink and some snacks at Edmondson Liquors at 2000 Edmondson Avenue in Baltimore. While there, she considered getting some scratch-offs, too. Since UNO is her favorite card game, she decided on the UNO instant ticket.

The middle child of five siblings, she purchased two of the $3 UNO scratch-offs and one Power 5s instant ticket, because that is one of her sister’s favorite games. She then took her drink, a snack and her scratch-offs home.

“I sat on the side of the bed with my drink and Slim Jims and scratched the tickets,” she said. “When I started scratching that UNO ticket and saw all of those zeros, I was stuck.” The shocked player saw that she had won $30,000.

To confirm the win, she scanned the ticket using the Lottery’s mobile app and then called her sister.

“She came to get me and I stayed with her that night,” said the player. After gathering up the required documentation, she claimed her prize this week. The lucky winner has no specific plans for her prize, but may buy a used car.

The UNO scratch-off still has one top prize remaining and thousands of other prizes ranging from $3 to $1,000. Our winner’s lucky retailer wins, too. For selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game, Edmondson Liquors earns a $300 bonus from the Lottery.
