Baltimore Woman Wins $30,000 World Championship Poker Prize

In an effort to learn the game of poker, a 31-year-old Baltimore woman decided to try her luck at playing a World Championship Poker scratch-off. Her tenacity seemed to have literally paid off as she won a $30,000 top prize. The newly engaged winner told Lottery officials that she decided to purchase the scratch-off because her fiancé enjoys playing poker.

“He’s been playing for over five years and I thought since we’re getting married, it would be cool if I learned how to play,” she said. “When I scratched the ticket, I didn’t even know I had won. I had to show my soon-to-be husband the ticket. I think we were both in shock when we realized it was a winning ticket.”

After being engaged for more than two years, the winner said she is thrilled to finally be able to set a date for the wedding. “This money couldn’t have come at a better time. Now, we can start planning our future together. ”

The lucky winner said, along with her wedding plans, she would pay bills and maybe schedule a fun-filled honeymoon to Las Vegas. “We think a trip to Vegas would be only fitting considering how we won,” she said.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Patapsco Citgo on Patapsco Avenue in Baltimore. The World Championship Poker scratch-off has one $30,000 top-prize remaining.
