There’s no denying it’s been a great week when a $100,000 Bingo X10 Maryland Lottery win is the second best thing to happen in your life.
“I became a grandmother on Tuesday,” said “Lucky Grandma,” the Maryland Lottery’s newest Bingo X10 winner. “I’m just having a wonderful week.”
On Nov. 15, the day after she was in the delivery room for the arrival of her first grandchild, “Lucky Grandma” stopped in Red Fish Liquors at 4001 Falls Road in Baltimore and picked up some Bingo X10 scratch-offs. The Lottery games “Lucky Grandma” enjoys most have bingo and crossword themes. The pace of play is the big attraction for her, she said.
The 63-year-old has played the Lottery’s bingo style games since their inception, but this is her first big win. Her playing ritual generally involves buying a few instant tickets and shuffling them before picking the one to play first.
Although “Lucky Grandma” had not made plans for a celebration when she claimed her winnings at Lottery headquarters, she had given some thought to spending her windfall. She will save some of the prize for her grandson and spend some of it making planned repairs to the Baltimore home she shares with her husband. But first, she said, she needs to adjust to the fact that she won $100,000.
“You look at the ticket and it looks right, but it doesn’t seem real,” she said.
“Lucky Grandma” buys her scratch-offs at several places, but said Red Fish Liquors is her favorite Lottery retailer. “They’re friendly, kind and they have a good wine selection.” The store also shares in “Lucky Grandma’s” good fortune, receiving a bonus of $1,000 for selling a $100,000 top-prize scratch-off. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
There are still plenty of lucky scratch-offs remaining in the Bingo X10 game. There are three more $100,000 top-prize unclaimed scratch-offs and 10 $10,000 winners waiting for discovery.
