Bank Employee Stockpiling Monopoly Scratch-off Wins

Baltimore resident finds $10,000 prize on her latest “play day”

259-$10-Monopoly-ITVMA West Baltimore mother of one who is on a winning streak playing Maryland Lottery Monopoly scratch-offs just did it again!

The bank employee turned her scratch-off play day into another payday by winning $10,000 on the $10 Monopoly scratch-off, which is part of the Lottery’s Monopoly family of instant games. Also on sale are $1, $2, $5 and $20 options.

“I’ve been on a roll since May,” she said. “I win on the $10, not the $5 or the $20. I’ve been hitting a lot on the $10.”

Her winning streak includes $2,000 in prizes she won playing scratch-offs on Mother’s Day. The happy player has won $500 here and $20 there and spends her prizes on more scratch-offs, which in turn leads to more prizes and more fun. She’s also a loyal member of My Lottery Rewards, regularly entering non-winning scratch-offs into her Rewards account to earn points she redeems for merchandise. So far, she’s received two big-screen TVs, cologne and an umbrella through her Rewards membership.

“Playing scratch-offs is a hobby,” she said. “I pay my bills and then, if I have something left over or prize money, I’ll buy scratch-offs.”
On the day of her big win, the 52-year-old popped into Gruner’s Liquor and Food Market located at 101 North Monastery Avenue in Baltimore. She won $20 on a scratch-off, cashed that prize and bought her lucky Monopoly ticket. Because she plays her games in public, the lucky woman was cautious about showing excitement when she revealed the $10,000 prize.

“I couldn’t believe it,” she said. Her previous top prize was $1,000 won in 2004. She’ll spend her prize on bills, of course, and then will “play more scratch-offs!”

The $10 Monopoly game still has four $100,000 top prizes and nine more unclaimed $10,000 prizes. Players can also search for more than 400,000 prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
