Claims $50,000 $2,000,000 Mega Bucks prize
A Harford County man claimed a $50,000 scratch-off prize for his winning wife on Friday, sharing her tale of finding a $50,000 prize on a $30 instant ticket. The lucky lady, who plays one $20 or $30 scratch-off each week, bought a $2,000,000 Mega Bucks game that gave her a $50,000 prize.
“She has a technique that works for her,” said the 73-year-old husband. “She buys one ticket a week. If she wins, she’ll buy another. If she doesn’t win, she’ll just wait until the next week.”
The Bel Air woman found her lucky scratch-off at the nearby 7-Eleven #11629 located at 806 Conowingo Road in Harford County. When she showed him the winning instant ticket, the husband said, he didn’t believe it even though the scratch-off was clearly a $50,000 winner. They took the instant ticket to a Lottery retailer to confirm the big win.
“I just kept looking at the ticket in disbelief,” he said. “To triple check, I had the cashier tell us one more time that it was a winner.”
After three confirmations, the couple locked the lucky scratch-off in a safe until they could claim the prize. A retired nonprofit organization employee, the husband is the proud grandfather of six and great-grandfather of one. He and his wife love to travel the world, the husband said. They plan to use some of the winnings for a vacation to South Africa. And, with the holidays around the corner, they plan to treat the grandkids very well!
The $30 scratch-off still has an unclaimed $2 million prize awaiting discovery, along with other prizes ranging from $30 to $5,000.
