Beltsville Dad’s Lottery Windfall Going to Daughters’ Weddings

Player picks up $50,000 playing 50X The Cash scratch-off

A father of two brides-to-be from Beltsville knows exactly where the proceeds from a $50,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off prize are going.

“My daughter has a wedding Sept. 5, and my second daughter is getting married next year,” said the 54-year-old winner while claiming his prize with the Sept. 5 bride at his side.

“This is not my money. It is my daughters’!” he proclaimed.

The fortunate father, who enjoys playing a variety of Maryland Lottery games, picked up his lucky 50X The Cash scratch-off at Wayside Farm Market located at 11790 Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring. The box at the intersection of line three and column four read 50X Prize $1,000, which, of course, multiplies to $50,000. He won the second-tier prize on the $10 instant ticket.

This was much better than any other return he has ever had, said the happy Prince George’s County resident. He has played Keno and Racetrax, along with scratch-offs and picked up prizes of $50 to $100. As for big wins, he said, “This is my first one!”

The happy dad is hoping this win won’t be his last and plans to keep trying for more prizes to benefit his daughters.

The 50X The Cash instant ticket slipped from No. 1 to the No. 3 spot this week on the Lottery’s Top 40 Scratch-offs chart, having been displaced by the new $30 Rose Gold Black and $10 Rose Gold games. Sales for these two scratch-offs began Feb. 24.

A member of the Multiplier Family of Games, this scratch-off offers players two chances to win. If they don’t win instantly, players can enter non-winning Multiplier Family of Games scratch-offs into the Multiplier second-chance contest to try to win additional prizes.
