Westminster woman claims $10,000 windfall
A fan of the Maryland Lottery’s Betty Boop scratch-off who faithfully played this $2 instant ticket, hoping and hoping for a big win, just got her wish. She won the $10,000 top prize!
The loyal player gave the game one more try when she visited the Giant supermarket located at 405 N. Center Street in Westminster to do some grocery shopping. Noticing the Lottery kiosk on her way out the door, the Westminster resident almost walked by. Then, she decided to try again for a win. “This was my last chance on this ticket,” she said, explaining that she has played the game at least once a week looking for the top prize.
The 67-year-old bought three Betty Boop scratch-offs and played them as soon as she got to the car. “I couldn’t believe it,” the lucky woman said. “I had to go back in the store to check the ticket.” The terminal operator confirmed that she held a $10,000 winner in hand and the Carroll County woman shared news of her good fortune with family members and friends.
The retired Maryland state employee said the win comes at a perfect time. She plans to spend part of it on additional holiday shopping and pay off some bills.
