Baltimore man wins prize on Maximum Money game
Charles Swanner of Baltimore enjoys playing Maryland Lottery scratch-off games, especially around holidays, and sometimes purchases an entire book of instant tickets to celebrate special occasions. He did just that on Mother’s Day weekend and won $10,000 playing the Maximum Money game.
The 40-year-old single dad went to Seahorse Inn in Baltimore for a bite to eat and, while there, decided to play scratch-offs. “I check the (Maryland Lottery) app to see prizes remaining and other details,” he said. “That’s how I decide which scratch-off game to play.”
His choice was the $10 Maximum Money game. Charles bought all of the remaining tickets of that book and began to scratch them while he ate. He was working on the third instant ticket when he saw something amazing – a 10x symbol with $1,000 beneath it, meaning he just won $10,000!
“I told the cashier that I had a big winner and I bought everyone a round,” said Charles, smiling. He then called his girlfriend, family members and friends and they all came to the Seahorse Inn to help him celebrate!
“We had a good night sitting around scratching the rest of the tickets and cashing the winners,” he said.
Charles, who works in management, had to wait a week to claim his prize because of work responsibilities. The happy player plans to use his winnings to complete some home projects and put a deck on his home. Visit his lucky retailer, Seahorse Inn, at 710 Wise Ave. in Baltimore.
