Glen Burnie Couple Takes Home $250,000 Mega Millions Win
The struggling economy has affected many lives and people are trying to find a way stay afloat. This scenario is no different for a Glen Burnie couple who won the $250,000 Mega Millions second-tier prize on Tuesday. They said this win came just in time.
“We had to pay our BGE bill with our credit card,” said the wife. “It is really a difficult time right now.” Her husband, a 60-year-old carpenter, has been unemployed for the past two years. “Times are hard for just about everyone we know,” he said.
The couple realized they’d won after scanning the ticket at a local bar on Wednesday. They later reconfirmed the win at home on the computer. “It is just sinking in,” said the tearful 56-year-old woman, who works as a retail clerk. “What a great New Year.”
The winning duo said they are going to use the winnings to pay off their house and some other bills. They also plan to take their 3-year-old grandchild on a vacation and then take a separate vacation for just the two of them to Jamaica.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Royal Farm store located at 200 Oak Manor Dr. in Glen Burnie.
