Baltimore man wins $50,000 top-tier prize
There was nothing out of the ordinary when a Baltimore man went to his regular store to play his regular numbers last week. For years, the 47-year-old has been playing the same Bonus Match 5 numbers, but the outcome was a little different that day — he matched all five numbers and won $50,000.
The numbers he plays are special to him. They represent the month, day and year of his birth. “I always play my birthday,” he told Lottery officials. “Sometimes, I play the same numbers more than once. This time I didn’t, but I am still so excited about this win.”
The winner, who did not stop smiling the entire time he was at Lottery headquarters, checked the winning numbers on the Lottery’s website the evening of the drawing. After realizing he won the top-tier prize, he called his mother. “My mom was shocked. She is still the only person I’ve told about the win.”
With his winnings, the lab tech plans to pay bills and save for a rainy day. The winning ticket was purchased at Harford Convenience, located at 3514 Harford Rd. in Baltimore.
