Bonus Match 5 Luck Finds Two Winners

$50,000 Wins in Bethesda and Clinton

Though they bought their tickets months apart – one just last week and the other back in April – two $50,000 Bonus Match 5 winners arrived at Lottery Headquarters on the same day to claim their prizes. Tuesday’s visits marked significant milestones for each man.  For one, it was his biggest Lottery win ever and for the other, his very first Lottery windfall.

“I play all games – the daily games, the jackpot games, Keno and scratch-offs,” reported the Silver Spring winner who won on the October 6, 2011 drawing.  He bought his ticket from the Giant Food store at 7142 Arlington Road in Bethesda.  “A few days after buying them, I checked my tickets there at the store and when the cashier gave me the news I jumped as high as I ever have.”  He’ll use his winnings to visit his brother who lives in Switzerland.

The second winner, a construction worker, told officials, “I get a ticket once in a while but have never won.  I tried Bonus Match 5 only because I thought a new game might change my luck.”  The Washington D.C. resident bought his winning ticket for the April 21, 2011 drawing at Tucker’s Liquors, 8100 Old Alexandria Ferry Road in Clinton. “I went back there the next day and they told me they’d sold a $50,000 winner.  The owner said that when she learned the news she thought immediately of me.”  Her intuition was as right as were the numbers on his ticket.  “When I realized it was me, I was calm – very happy and very grateful.”  Bonus Match 5’s newest fan will use his winnings to help family.  In fact, family obligations were what kept him from claiming his prize for six months.
