Wins big with $2 ticket in Jan. 20 drawing
A Baltimore-area courier who spends lots of time fueling up his vehicle is sure glad he picked up a Powerball ticket on Jan. 18 along with his gas. He won $50,000!
“I buy a lot of gas,” said the Windsor Mills resident, who has worked as a courier for more than 30 years. “I don’t spend a lot of money on Powerball but I sometimes buy a ticket along with the gas.”
On that lucky Monday, he added a $2 quick-pick ticket to his purchase at Royal Farms #77 located at 2603 Old Philadelphia Road in Edgewood. The grandfather of 12 went about his week and, two days later, enjoyed his biggest Maryland Lottery win. He signed the lucky ticket from the Jan. 20 drawing and hid it until he could claim his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The great-grandfather of one was the only Marylander to win $50,000 in that drawing and was one of 11 people nationwide to get that payout. No one has hit the jackpot, which keeps rolling and is currently at $112 million for the Wednesday, Feb. 3 drawing.
The 60-something man plans to get a new set of wheels with his prize so he can keep rolling along!
