Stevensville resident finds luck with Your Fortune game
A Stevensville man who finds winning Maryland Lottery scratch-offs by buying games as soon as they go on sale just discovered a $10,000 prize, which is his biggest win yet! Edward White Jr. arrived at Lottery headquarters with a winning Your Fortune scratch-off in hand the day after the $10 game went on sale.
“I like buying the new tickets,” Edward said after claiming his prize with his friend, James Kasper of Stevensville. The 58-year Amtrak mechanical technician has won $1,000 and $500 a few times using his strategy of buying new games at his “lucky” stores. He found his winning ticket at the Stevensville Citgo located at 101 Duke Street in Stevensville.
When the loyal player scratched off one of the game’s matching numbers and saw the $10,000 prize, he was shocked.
“I could not believe that ticket,” said the 58-year-old. “I had to take a triple look to see if I really won.”
The grandfather of one plans to spend his prize on a new roof for his shed and will put the rest of his winnings in the bank.
The Your Fortune game has eight unclaimed $100,000 top prizes, 14 more $10,000 prizes and more than 40 $1,000 prizes awaiting discovery at Lottery retailers. The game was one of five that went on sale Monday, Sept. 26.
