Gaithersburg man wins big with WILLY WONKA GOLDEN TICKET game
A busy cabinet installer from Montgomery County can treat himself to a kitchen remodel of his own, courtesy of a top-prize winning WILLY WONKA GOLDEN TICKET™ scratch-off. Eduardo Alvarez and his wife, who discovered the $100,000 top-prize win just over a week ago, told their story of scratch-off luck while claiming their winnings at Maryland Lottery headquarters.
Eduardo said his wife headed to the grocery store for a few items and purchased the lucky instant ticket at Weis Markets #289 in Gaithersburg. She scratched off the $10 game in the store, revealing the winning numbers first and then the prizes. When she revealed a matching number along with a $100,000 prize, the astonished woman quietly checked the instant ticket on the store scanner before excitedly rushing home.
The Gaithersburg resident burst through the door with so much excitement, Eduardo had to wait for her to calm down before he could understand what had happened!
In addition to the kitchen remodel, the winners will spend the prize on a series of home improvements. A portion of the windfall will go to their Maryland home and another portion to repair the family’s home in Nicaragua.
The $10 WILLY WONKA GOLDEN TICKET is a favorite of Lottery players, selling well since it went on sale at Maryland retailers last April. This win leaves the popular scratch-off with a single unclaimed $100,000 top prize.
The scratch-off sale also benefits Weis Markets #289 located at 883 Russell Avenue. The Montgomery County store earns a $1,000 retailer bonus for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off of $100,000.
