Carpenter’s Late Night Errand Turns into Big Lottery Prize

Wins $250,000 Top Prize on Club Casino Scratch-Off

Club CasinoShortly after scoring a win on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off, a lucky Harford County man set off in hot pursuit of a $10 Club Casino instant ticket.

He left a 7-Eleven in Hickory empty-handed. As the 53-year-old proceeded home, he realized that he had forgotten to buy a pack of cigarettes for his brother. The carpenter bypassed his house in Street to buy the cigarettes at a nearby Royal Farms, where he spotted the elusive scratch-off. The happy man’s late-night errand led him to a $250,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.

“I had to look twice to make sure I scratched the right numbers,” the winner said. “Once I realized that I won, I went nuts!”

His first calls to share the news of good fortune were to his best friend, other members of his household and his brother. His niece, who became very excited about his win, kept looking at and touching the ticket, he said. Our winner soon became wary of all of the attention lavished on the ticket and stashed it inside the glove box in his car until he could claim his prize at Lottery headquarters.

The lucky player is a big fan of Maryland Lottery scratch-offs. He buys about 15 scratch-offs each week. Although this is his largest scratch-off win, he is no stranger to success with scratch-offs and recently claimed a $1,000 prize on a $5 Big Cash Multiplier instant ticket.

A carpenter for more than 30 years, our winner has enjoyed few vacations over the years. He plans to make a getaway trip to Florida his first priority for his $250,000 prize. He also plans to pay off some bills. Our winner bought his lucky ticket at Royal Farms at 3606 Conowingo Road in Street. There are three $250,000 top-prize winning tickets still awaiting discovery at Maryland retailers.
