Claims $100,000 top prize on Neon X20 scratch-off
Amelia Pelino was already having an exciting year before she purchased some scratch-off tickets this morning. In 45 days, she is scheduled to settle on a 22-acre farm in Manchester, which she will be sharing with her five mini goats.
Amelia stopped by her favorite Lottery retailer, The Liquor Shoppe in Hampstead, to pick up a few scratch-offs, including an especially lucky Neon X20 ticket. The 34-year-old, who owns the tree care company That Tree Guy, took the tickets home to scratch throughout the day. When she realized she had won a $100,000 top prize, she started making phone calls to share the good news.
“I was hyperventilating,” Amelia told Lottery officials while claiming the prize with her mom, dad and best friend by her side. “I’m still in utter shock. I can’t stop saying, ‘Oh my God!’”
Luck runs in the family. Amelia said her aunt won a $6 million Lottery prize about 25 years ago. She never believed a big win could happen twice in the same family, but has now learned otherwise.
“The timing is so perfect,” she said, smiling from ear to ear. “I don’t have to worry about the down payment for the farm anymore. I can’t wait to get even more mini animals for the farm!”
The Liquor Shoppe, located at 2275 Hanover Pike in Hampstead, will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Amelia is the first winner to claim a top prize on Neon X20. The $10 ticket launched on May 22 and has five remaining top prizes, as well as eight remaining $20,000 prizes.
